Whether you are Jewish or not, it’s important to recognize the significant role European Jews played in the kingdoms of medieval Europe.
Flourishing through trade, education, and tradition, the Jewish communities of the Iberian Peninsula (modern-day Spain and Portugal) were among the prominent ones. Barcelona’s Jewish community was small but influential, known for their various expertise: strong educational background, financial capability in trade and money lending (even to kings), and world-famous rabbis as local leadership – this community left a real mark on the city’s history.
This tour will introduce you to the notable figures who emerged from this community, explore their unique relationships with the Kings of Aragon, and reveal the tragic events that led to the end of Jewish life in Barcelona at the end of the 14th century.
Join us for a personal and thought-provoking experience, guided by our amazing team who will share the full, hidden story of Barcelona’s Jewish community. This journey is sure to leave you with a deeper understanding and lasting inspiration.
